NVIDIA would be busy marketing its new toys and reaping the rewards of its earlier launch; ATI should be slogging to solve its yield problems and get its own next generation R chip out as gecbe as possible.

GeCube Overclocked Radeon X800 GTO Review

It’s the next level up from the XGT which was only released a few weeks ago. While a lot of people feel that it is a bit late to be releasing new cards into the current generation mid-range market, ATI must feel different though because there is also rumor of an XGTO2 coming out as well.

These chips, which would otherwise have depreciated quickly when the new generation parts start to appear, are recycled in these ‘new’ products, allowing the companies to get rid of their older inventory.

As most people already know, sadly for our excitement it wasn’t the X nor was it Crossfire, though it was another mid-range graphics card known as the Radeon XGTO. Moreover, these products are usually offshoots of existing chip SKUs, with either beefed up or scaled down graphics and memory chips, depending on which market niche it is targeted at.

However, it raedon up for its slower raeon by having four extra pipelines over the Radeon X GT. On the contrary, we have had an increase in competition spearheaded by a spate of new product releases from both companies.
